Categories, statuses, and roles

Category Template​

Open Category Templates and choose New to open the Category Template Card.

  1. Enter a Code, Name, Description, Audience (Baby, Toddler, Kids, Adult, Home, Mixed, or blank), and Sort Order.
  2. On the Required Attributes subform, add the attributes this category should demand, ticking Required on each.

A Style assigned this template has its Completeness Score calculated against exactly this set of attributes, so Footwear can demand a Sole Material attribute that a plain Tee does not. A template with no required rows has no effect on scoring, so adding this is opt-in per template. This does not block Release; it is a merchandising quality signal, not a hard release gate.

Certification Types​

Open Certification Types, an inline-editable list, and add a row per certification scheme your business uses (for example GOTS, OEKO-TEX, FSC, BCI, GRS, ZQ), each with a Code, Display Name, Description, and Sort Order. A type cannot be deleted while any Style Certification still references it.

Image Roles​

Open Image Roles and choose New to open the Image Role Card. Add one row per role your imagery is organised by (for example HERO, FLATLAY, GHOST MANNEQUIN, MODEL, LIFESTYLE, DETAIL, SWATCH, PACKAGING, SIZEGUIDE, OTHER), each with a Code, Display Name, Sort Order, Description, and Is Default for New Images (mark exactly one role as the default pick when a new image reference is created).

SKU Statuses​

Open SKU Statuses, an inline-editable list. Add or edit a status row with a Code, Display Name, Sort Order, Description, and:

  • Lifecycle Stage (Draft, Active, On Hold, Discontinued, or Blocked): the coarse classification the bulk lifecycle tooling and reporting actually key on, so renaming or reordering statuses later never breaks the underlying rules.
  • Is Default for New SKUs: the status newly generated SKUs receive; mark exactly one row.
  • Is Retired: whether a SKU reaching this status has its code permanently reserved against reuse. See Retired codes.

Run Status Flag Mapping to open the Status Flag Map, where each status carries three checkboxes: Sales Blocked, Purchase Blocked, and Blocked, controlling the standard Business Central Item blocking flags applied whenever a SKU takes that status. A status with no row here applies no blocking at all.

If SKU Statuses were configured after apparel Items already existed, run Backfill Blank Statuses to set every currently status-less SKU to the default Active status; SKUs that already carry a status are left alone, so this is safe to run more than once.
