Bills of materials
Elevate Apparel supports two kinds of bill of materials: a Kit BoM for bundling already-stocked Items into one sellable kit, and a Personalisation BoM for capturing customer instructions that travel with an order. This page covers the Kit BoM.
Kit BoM: bundling stocked Items
Use a Kit BoM when you want to sell several already-stocked Items together as one kit, for example a gift set of a hat, a bib, and a bodysuit sold under one SKU, without building a second inventory system for it.
On the standard Item Card of the parent kit Item, go to the Kit Components grid (inside the Apparel group):
- Add a row per component, choosing the Component SKU No. (it cannot be the parent Item itself).
- Set Quantity per, the number of that component going into one kit; must be greater than zero.
Adding, editing, or removing a row here immediately rewrites the parent Item's standard Business Central Assembly BOM to match. The first time a kit line is defined, the parent Item is automatically switched to Replenishment System Assembly with an Assemble-to-Order policy, so a Sales Order for the kit automatically creates the linked Assembly Order. If you later switch the parent to Assemble-to-Stock by hand (for pre-built gift sets packed ahead of time), that choice is respected afterward.
If a component's own SKU Status changes to something flagged Is Retired, and it is still used in an active kit, you get an advisory message listing every affected kit; nothing is changed automatically, so review each one individually.
Run Assembly BOM (Kit) to open the standard Business Central Assembly BOM view directly for review.
