Styles and SKUs

This is the day-to-day core of the product: create a Style, choose the colours and sizes it comes in, generate a sellable unit for each cell of the matrix, and release it to Business Central Items. This page covers creating the Style itself; the rest of the flow is split across the pages below.

Create a Style​

Open Styles and choose New to open the Style Card.

  1. Enter a Style Code and Style Name. Leave Style Code blank if Style Code auto-numbering is configured (see below).
  2. Confirm Brand defaulted from Apparel PIM Setup, or set it. This also pre-fills a blank Colour Set from the Brand's own default, without overwriting anything already set.
  3. Set Category Template Code so the right attributes are required.
  4. In Matrix Configuration, set Size Scale and, if used, Colour Set and a Numbering Scheme override.
  5. In Defaults for new SKUs, confirm or adjust Default Country of Origin, Primary Vendor No., and the posting groups.

Result: a new Style is created with a Status of Concept and a Completeness % visible in General. A brand-new Concept Style is not required to have a Brand, Size Scale, or Colours just to be saved as a draft; those become mandatory only when it is actually released, or when its Status is pushed directly to Active without going through Release.

Once a Brand, Size Scale, or Colour Set has been set on a Style, it cannot be cleared back to blank again; the error names the field. Style Code itself is only editable while Status is Concept or In Development; once the Style moves further along, renaming is blocked with an explicit message.

Style Code auto-numbering​

If Style Nos. is configured on Apparel PIM Setup, a brand-new Style Card draws the next number automatically the moment the record is created, before you type anything else. If no series is configured, Style Code stays blank and must be typed by hand, which is the default and needs no extra setup. The assist-edit button on Style Code lets you explicitly pull the next number on demand; it requires a Style Nos. series to exist. The series a code was actually drawn from is recorded on a read-only No. Series field (blank for manually coded Styles).
