Retired codes

Open Retired SKU Codes to see the permanent ledger of every code that has ever reached a status flagged Is Retired. A code lands here once and stays forever, even if the batch that retired it is later reversed, even if the Item itself is eventually deleted.

If Apparel PIM Setup's Block Retired Code Reuse switch is on (the default), and a numbering scheme generates a brand-new code that happens to collide with one already on this ledger, release fails: "Item No. X belongs to a retired SKU and cannot be reused. Adjust the numbering scheme, or turn off Block Retired Code Reuse in Apparel PIM Setup if you really intend to recycle the code." This only fires for a genuinely new code; re-releasing a cell the same Style already owns is unaffected.
