Records and Multi-Company
Looking at existing records
Open Records from the sidebar to browse master data that is already in Business Central. Records are scoped to the company you have selected in the top bar.
- Search by name, code or external id.
- Click into a record to see all its synced fields.
- From a record you can choose Raise update to create a new request that proposes changes to that record.
If you cannot find a record you know is in BC, ask an administrator whether the relevant entity is enabled for sync; the BC connector only sends entities that have been turned on.
Multi-company
If your tenant runs more than one legal entity, switch company from the top bar. The form list, the records browser and Requested By Me all scope themselves to the selected company. Your approvers will see the request under the same company.
Tips
- Fill duplicates first. The duplicate banner saves you and the approvers from raising redundant records, which clutters Business Central.
- Attach evidence early. Approvers tend to bounce requests that arrive without supporting documents; reattaching them mid-flow is usually slower than getting it right the first time.
- Use Save Draft for long forms. Drafts persist across browsers and devices; you can finish on your laptop what you started on your phone.
- Watch the Returned bucket on the dashboard. It keeps requests that need your attention from getting lost in the main list.
