Creating a Request
- Choose Create in the sidebar.
- Pick the record type you need to raise (for example "Vendor", "Customer", "Item"). Only record types your administrator has set up are listed.
- Fill in the form. Required fields are marked with an asterisk. Where a field is a lookup (currency, payment terms, posting groups), pick from the list; the list is kept in sync with Business Central.
- Attach supporting documents if the record type requires them. Drag and drop into the upload area, or choose Browse. File types and size limits are enforced based on the field configuration.
- Choose Save Draft if you are not ready, or Submit when you are.
Duplicate detection
As you fill in the form, the system looks for existing records that may match. If one is found, you will see a yellow banner above the form listing the candidate(s), with the matched field and a confidence label (Definitive, High, Normalized, Contains).
- If the candidate is the record you actually want to update, choose Raise update and the form is pre-filled from that record. Submitting will create an update request rather than a new record.
- If the candidate is unrelated, you can dismiss the warning and continue.
Duplicate detection only fires for fields the administrator has marked with a duplicate match strategy. Drop-down (Select) fields are skipped because their values are not specific enough.
Saving a draft
Drafts are stored on the server, not just in your browser. You can come back to them from Requested By Me > Drafts. Drafts do not run any workflow until you submit them.
Vendor self-service
Some record types (typically Vendor) are configured so that the vendor fills in part of the form themselves. After you submit, the system emails the vendor a tokenised link that opens a public form. Once they submit, the request resumes and shows up in your Requested By Me list with the vendor's data filled in.
You will see the request in the Awaiting Response state until the vendor returns the form.
