Connecting Business Central

This area is for the person who installs and operates the Elevate Approvals extension inside Business Central. It covers initial setup, what the connector pushes to the portal and pulls back, how to manage entity and field configuration, and how to recover when something goes wrong.

You typically only need most of this once during onboarding, and then again whenever you add a new entity or change field configuration.

What the connector does

The Elevate Approvals extension is an AppSource extension published by Equerra Limited. Once installed it does three things, all initiated from inside Business Central:

  1. Pushes lookup data to the portal (currencies, payment terms, posting groups and any other lookup source you enable). The portal uses these lists to populate dropdowns on its forms.
  2. Pushes entity records to the portal (vendors, customers, items, employees, plus any custom entity you turn on). The portal uses these to detect duplicates and to support "raise update" flows.
  3. Pulls approved requests from the portal and creates the matching record in Business Central, then posts the new BC entity id back to the portal.

The portal is intentionally ERP-agnostic. The connector always initiates the connection; the portal never calls into BC. That is what makes it possible to add other ERPs later without rebuilding the portal.

Where to go next

Once Business Central is connected, an administrator continues in the Admin Guide to set up companies, users, record types and workflows in the portal.
